Abstract

Krajem osamdesetih godina došlo je do promjena u svjetskom poretku, završetkom Hladnog rata i centralizacijom moći u rukama Sjedinjenih Američkih Država u Europi je došlo do teritorijalnih i političkih promjena. Raspadom Socijalističke Federativne Republike Jugoslavije. Republika Hrvatska postala je samostalna i suverena država. Granice država bivše Jugoslavije odredila je Badinterova komisija prema načelima međunarodnog prava, no svaka od bivših članica Jugoslavije različito ih je tumačila što je dovelo do prijepora između Republike Hrvatske i njenih susjeda. Jedino riješeno pitanje granice Republika Hrvatska je imala s Mađarskom i Italijom, dok je sa svim članicama bivše Jugoslavije imala niz neriješenih graničnih pitanja. S obzirom na svoj geografski položaj Hrvatska se našla na putu „balkanske rute“, rute kojom su migranti iz arapskih zemalja zahvaćenih ratom krenuli prema zapadnim zemljama. Na temelju migrantske krize i neriješenih graničnih pitanja prikazan je način i učinkovitost kontrole granica i spremnost hrvatskog graničnog sustava na izazove koje budućnost donosi.

Abstract (english)

In the late eightees there was a change in the world order, the end of the Cold War and the centralization of power in the hands of the United States brought territorial and political changes in Europe. With the fall of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia the Republic of Croatia has become an independent and sovereign state. The boundaries of the former Yugoslavia have been determined by the Badinter commission according to the principles of international law, but each of the former Yugoslavia members interpreted them differently, leading to a controversy between the Republic of Croatia and its neighbors. Today the only established border Republic of Croatia has with Hungary and Italy, while with all members of the former Yugoslavia there are series of unresolved border issues. Given its geographic position, Croatia found itself on the path of "Balkan route", a route that migrants from the Arab countries affected by the war moved to Western countries. Based on the migrant crisis and unresolved border issues, the strategy and effectiveness of border control and the readiness of the Croatian border system are prepared for the challenges that the future brings.
