Abstract

U radu se analizira izdanje "Osoba godine" magazina Time. Točnije, analiziraju se naslovnice tog izdanja i kriteriji odabira osoba za tu titulu te je uz to stoga napravljen pregled svih izbora i naslovnica. Riječ je o tradiciji i medijskom fenomenu koji broji 91 naslovnicu. Uloga koju igra izgled naslovnice, odnosno ono što i tko se na njoj nalaze pokazuje koliki utjecaj samo jedan dio cjeline može imati. Ljudi su vizualna bića te informacije često prvo vide i uočavaju. Uz to, pažnja je posvećena i jazu koji je stvoren tijekom odabira "Osobe godine". Preciznije, radi se o nejednakosti spolova koja je itekako izražena. Još jedna bitna stavka je da je izbor "Osobe godine" poprilično sužen te da najčešće padne na pripadnike svjetske političke arene. No, ulaskom u 21. stoljeće dolazi do malih, ali bitnih promjena. Smjer u kojemu se istraživanje odvijalo je dobar, ali ipak ova analiza nije bila dovoljno duboka i kritička zbog određenih ograničenja.

Abstract (english)

In this paper Time magazine's Person of the Year issue is being analyzed. More precisely, the covers of that issue are being analyzed, as well as the criteria for selecting a person for that title. Therefore, a complete review of all the choices and covers has been made. It is a tradition and a media phenomenon that counts 91 front covers. The part that the appearance of the cover plays, along with what and who is on it show how much of an influence only one part of a whole can make. People are visual beings and they often first notice and see the information. Also, the attention is on the gap that has been created during the decision-making of the Person of the Year. More precisely, it is about the inequality of the sexes that is very noticeable. Another important thing to note that the choice of the Person of the Year is very narrow and that oftentimes the ones chosen belong to the actors of the global political arena. However, with entering the 21st century there have been small, but important changes. The direction of this paper was good, but this analysis was not deep enough and critical enough because of certain limitations.
