Abstract

Teme o mafiji i organiziranom kriminalu u istraživačkom novinarstvu su izuzetno važne jer se svjesno skrivaju, a od iznimnog su javnog interesa. U svakoj aferi trag novca nepogrešivo vodi do činjenica. Kad je u pitanju organizirani kriminal i suradnja kriminalnih skupina ne postoje ideološke, političke, vjerske i nacionalne granice. Mafija u svojoj srži ostala ista i dan danas – tajno društvo sa strogo definiranim pravilima koje zanima samo moć i novac te ne preže pred ničim da bi to dobila. Njena povezanost s organima vlasti temelji na sistemu međusobnih usluga i to čini osnovu mafijaške moći od njenih početaka. Cilj ovog istraživanja je saznati postoji li mafija u Hrvatskoj te koje su sličnosti i razlike s onim što pojam 'mafija' podrazumijeva u zemlji svog porijekla – Italiji. Pitanja na koja se želi odgovoriti istraživanjem su sljedeća: Postoji li mafija u Hrvatskoj? Koje su razlike i sličnosti u odnosu na talijansku mafiju? Surađuje li hrvatska mafija s mafijama zemalja u regiji? S kojim oblicima organiziranog kriminala se susrećemo u Hrvatskoj? Metodom polustrukturiranih intervjua s najpoznatijim istraživačkim novinarima u Hrvatskoj zaključeno je to da se termin 'mafija' u Hrvatskoj smatra sinonimom za organizirani kriminal, a ne koristi se u onom povijesnom i organizacijskom smislu koji mafija predstavlja u Italiji te ima potpuno drugačiji karakter.

Abstract (english)

Mafia and organized crime related topics in investigative journalism are of great importance to the public interest as they are often purposely hidden from society to see their existence. In almost every affair, the money trail leads to facts. There are no ideological, political, religious, or national boundaries when it comes to organized crime or cooperation between different criminal parties. Mafia, in its original meaning, has stayed the same from its origin - secret organization of criminals with strictly defined rules and is only interested in money and power and does not stop until it gets what it desires. The essence of mafia power comes from its connection with authorities and their system of mutual businesses. The purpose of this research is to determine if mafia exists in Croatia and if so, what are the differences and similarities as to what the term mafia represents in Italy, a country of its origin.
This research will provide answers to the following questions: Does mafia exist in Croatia¬? What are the differences and similarities in comparison to the Italian mafia? Does the Croatian mafia cooperate with other mafias in its region? What types of organized crime exists in Croatia? Using a method of semi-structured interviews with one of the best investigative journalists in Croatia, it concluded that the term mafia has a rather different character and is being considered as a synonym for organized crime rather than what mafia represents in its historical and original meaning in Italy.
