Abstract

U želji da dopru do što više čitatelja i da budu bolji od konkurencije te izazovu emocije kod čitatelja, novinari i urednici posežu za praksama koje se kose sa zakonima i etičkim kodeksima. Iako su zakonski okviri te načini regulacije i samoregulacije dobro strukturirani, u praksi je situacija drugačija, a kršenje navedenog najviše se odražava na najranjivijoj društvenoj skupini - djeci. Uloga medija da informiraju javnost uključuje i izvještavanje o nasilju nad njima, ali interes djece jest i mora biti nadređen pravu javnosti da zna.

Ovaj rad analizira etičnost izvještavanja u slučaju Pag u ožujku 2019. godine u Slobodnoj Dalmaciji, Večernjem listu, Jutarnjem listu te Novom listu. Oca s Paga teretilo se da je 28. veljače 2019. godine u jutarnjim satima s balkona kuće bacio četvero maloljetne djece u namjeri da ih ubije. Pritom je jedna djevojčica lakše ozlijeđena, a dječak i još dvije djevojčice teže.

Provedeno istraživanje potvrdilo je pretpostavke da su novinari Slobodne Dalmacije, Večernjeg lista, Jutarnjeg lista i Novog lista kršili prava djece prilikom izvještavanju o slučaju Pag. Od ukupno 45 analiziranih tekstova, najmanje etički prijepornih objavljeno je u Jutarnjem listu, njih 46,15%. Slijedi Slobodna Dalmacija s 53,84% etički prijepornih članaka, potom Novi list s 83,33% te Večernji list s 84,61%.

Abstract (english)

In order to reach as many readers as possible and to be better than the competition as well as to provoke emotions in readers, journalists and editors resort to practices that violate laws and codes of ethics. Although the legal framework and ways of regulation and self-regulation are well structured, in practice the situation is different, and the violation of the above is mostly reflected in the most vulnerable social group - children. The role of the media to inform the public includes reporting on violence against them, but the interest of children is and must take precedence over the public's right to know.

This paper analyzes the ethics of reporting in the case of Pag in March 2019 in daily newspapers Slobodna Dalmacija, Večernji list, Jutarnji list, and Novi list. The father from Pag was charged with throwing four minor children from the balcony of a house on the morning of February 28, 2019, with the intent to kill them. One girl was slightly injured, a boy and two other girls were severely injured.

The conducted research confirmed the assumptions that the journalists of Slobodna Dalmacija, Večernji list, Jutarnji list and Novi list violated children's rights when reporting on the Pag case. Out of the total of 45 analyzed texts, the least ethically controversial were published in Jutarnji list, 46.15% of them. It is followed by Slobodna Dalmacija with 53.84% of ethically controversial articles, followed by Novi list with 83.33% and Večernji list with 84.61%.
