Abstract

Rad propituje položaj BRIC zemalja (Brazila, Rusije, Indije i Kine) u svjetskom gospodarstvu. Daje sažet prikaz gospodarske i političke situacije u svakoj od promatranih zemalja. Potom nastoji rasvijetliti jesu li BRIC zemlje na putu da se prometnu u glavnu gospodarsku silu svijeta koja će moći udruženo djelovati u promicanju svojih gospodarski i političkih interesa te mogu li se navedene zemlje uopće uspoređivati. U radu se zaključuje da su BRIC zemlje neusporedive zbog niza gospodarskih, političkih i društvenih razlika te da je njihovo udruženo djelovanje na svjetskoj sceni malo vjerojatno.

Abstract (english)

This paper questions the position of BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) in the world economy. It gives a brief look at the economic and political situation in each of the countries studied. Furthermore, it questions whether the BRIC countries are on a path of becoming a major world economic power that can act jointly in promoting its economic and political interests and whether the above mentioned countries can be compared at all. The paper concludes that the BRIC countries are not comparable due to a number of economic, political and social differences among them and that their joint action on a world stage is unlikely to happen.
