Abstract

Cilj rada je analiza medijske slike vaterpola, kako se i u kojoj mjeri vaterpolo prikazuje u medijima te koliko je relevantan u specijaliziranim medijima, što će u mnogočemu pomoći da se dođe do zaključka postoji li svijetla budućnost za vaterpolo te mogu li se očekivati bilo kakve pozitivne promjene za sport koji iz godine u godinu gubi na popularnosti. Glavna hipoteza rada je da su krovne organizacije najveći krivac za loše stanje u vaterpolu. U polustrukturiranom intervjuu, uz pomoć najvećih hrvatskih vaterpolskih stručnjaka, odgovoreno je na pet ključnih istraživačkih pitanja. Razmišljanja stručnjaka umnogome su pomogla da se glavna hipoteza rada potvrdi. Najviše je mimoilaženja u mišljenjima bilo oko budućnosti profesionalnog vaterpola. Neki su sigurni da će vaterpolo unatoč svemu opstati, dok su drugi mišljenja da je s tim sportom praktički već gotovo i da su postojeći napori samo odgađanje neizbježnog. Vaterpolo je najtrofejniji hrvatski momčadski sport i kao takav zaslužuje barem trud države, upravnih tijela i Hrvatskoga vaterpolskog saveza, da se situacija popravi i da ne dođe do konačnog kraha. Mnogo toga ovisi i o tome hoće li vaterpolo i dalje biti dio Olimpijskih igara. Igre u Los Angelesu mogle bi biti prekretnica i dati odgovor hoće li vaterpolo konačno doživjeti modernizaciju ili će nestati s mape profesionalnih sportova.

Abstract (english)

The aim of the work is to investigate how and to what extent the media portrays water polo and how relevant it is in specialized media, and this will in many ways help to reach conclusions as to whether there is a bright future for professional water polo and whether we can expect any positive changes for the sport that is changing from year to year. is losing popularity for the year. The main hypothesis of the work is that the maiden organizations are the biggest culprits for the bad situation in water polo. In a semi-structured interview, with the help of the biggest Croatian water polo experts, five key research questions were answered, and the experts' thoughts significantly helped to confirm the main hypothesis of the work. The most divergent opinions were about the future of professional water polo, some are sure that water polo will survive despite everything, while others are of the opinion that it is practically over and that this is just a postponement of the inevitable. Water polo is the most trophy-winning Croatian team sport and as such deserves at least the efforts of the state, the authorities and the federation to improve the situation and prevent a final collapse. A lot depends on whether water polo will continue to be part of the Olympic Games. The Games in Los Angeles could be a turning point and give us the answer to whether water polo will finally experience modernization or will disappear from the map of professional sports.
