Abstract

U radu se istražuje uloga religije u međunarodnim odnosima. U uvodu rad objašnjava položaj religije u međunarodnim odnosima u kojima pretežito dominira sekularni stav. Uvod odgovara na pitanje je li religija bitna u međunarodnim odnosima, koja je njezina uloga u ratom zahvaćenim područjima i koja je njezina uloga u diplomaciji u 21. stoljeću. Glavni dio rada podijeljen je na ulogu religije i njezin utjecaj u ratu i području zahvaćenom mržnjom i sukobom; i na ulogu religije u mirotvorstvu. Rad, za primjer negativnog utjecaja religije na sukob, proučava studiju slučaja genocida u Ruandi. S druge strane, rad proučava djelovanje katoličke zajednice Sant `Egidio u Mozambiku koja je bila jedan od ključnih aktera u stvaranju mira u toj državi. Naposljetku, zaključak će objasniti položaj i ulogu religije u suvremenim međunarodnim odnosima i odgovorit će na pitanje doprinosi li religija miru ili sukobu.

Abstract (english)

The paper examines the role of religion in international relations. In the introduction, the paper explains the position of religion in international relations in which the secular attitude predominates. The introduction answers the question of whether religion matters in international relations, what is its role in war-torn areas, and what is its role in diplomacy in the 21st century. The main part of the paper is divided into the role of religion and its influence in war and the area affected by hatred and conflict; and on the role of religion in peacemaking. The paper, as an example of the negative influence of religion on conflict, studies the case study of the genocide in Rwanda. On the other hand, the paper studies the activities of the Sant `Egidio Catholic community in Mozambique, which was one of the key actors in creating peace in that country. Finally, the conclusion will explain the position and role of religion in contemporary international relations and will answer the question whether religion contributes to peace or conflict.
