Abstract

Prethodno stoljeće pokazalo je kako etnički sukobi kao fenomen ne zastarijevaju već su i dalje prisutni na međunarodnoj pozornici, a važnost njihova razumijevanja odražava se na sigurnost države same. Unutar ovog rada prikazuje se definicija etniciteta kao ljudskog konstrukta te njegovih čimbenika što vodi k teorijama etničkih sukoba i njihovih tipova. Pozornost se usto pridaje metodama upravljanja etničkim razlikama kao i teorijama rješavanja međuetničkih sukoba. Nadalje, povijesnim prikazom utvrđuju se okolnosti i faktori koji su doveli do etničkog sukoba u Južnom Tirolu, ustanovljuju se politike koje su provedene u periodu od sedamdeset godina, te njihove implikacije na razrješenje problema. Naposljetku prikazuje se kako posljednji korišteni model upravljanja sukoba, onaj konsocijacijski polučuje pozitive rezultate, te potencijalne razloge zašto je tomu tako.

Abstract (english)

Previous century has shown us that ethnic conflicts as phenomena do not grow old rather that they are very much present on an international scale, also the understanding of which is of an immense importance to national security. In this paper, the definition of ethnicity as a human construct shall be presented, as well as factors that comprise it. The latter lead us to theories of ethnic conflict alongside their types. In addition, focus is set onto methods of macro-political forms of ethnic conflict regulation together with theories of ethnic conflict resolution. Furthermore, historical accounts provide us with circumstances and factors that have led to ethnic conflict in South Tyrol in the first place. Aforementioned sources tell us which policies have been used during this period alongside their implications to problem solution. Lastly consociational model of ethnic conflict resolution is shown in detail due to its positive impacts in South Tyrol.
