Abstract

Važan faktor u kreiranju javnih politika danas je civilno društvo. Svojevrsni treći sektor uz državu i tržište koji služi kao korektiv vlasti i jedan je od glavnih čimbenika demokratizacije. Sve moderne demokracije to su prepoznale, a ni Hrvatska u tom smislu nije izuzetak. Svojevrsni sinonim za civilno društvo su nevladine udruge. U Hrvatskoj ih trenutno djeluje više od 50 tisuća, a istraživanja o percepciji i uključenosti građana u njihov rad još su uvijek relativno rijetka. Autorica ovog rada ispituje stavove studenata novinarstva Fakulteta političkih znanosti u Zagrebu o nevladinim udrugama na temelju ankete provedene na uzorku od 100 studenata. Istraživanje je imalo tri glavna cilja: utvrditi znaju li studenti za pojam nevladinih udruga, jesu li član neke nevladine udruge te što misle o njihovom radu i načinu financiranja. Uočen je u većini negativan stav prema nevladinim udrugama. Iako su upoznati s pojmom, ne znaju navesti niti jednu konkretnu udrugu. Rezultati su o pokazali i kako nitko od ispitanih nije član niti jedne nevladine udruge te da u većini nisu spremni na takav angažman. Studenti nevladine udruge smatraju teretom za državni proračun, a svaki deseti sumnja na korupciju pogledu njihova financiranja. Istraživanje je otkrilo i da je jedna trećina njih bez ikakvog političkog stava. Autorica zaključuje kako je i ovo istraživanje pokazalo da je politička pismenost studenata na niskoj razini te da je osim toga važno raditi na poticanju njihova angažmana za probleme društva u kojem žive.

Abstract (english)

Today, the important asset in creating public policies is civic society. A kind of third sector next to the state and the market which serves as a government corrective and is one of the main factors of democratization. All modern countries have recognized that and Croatia is not an exception. Non-governmental organizations are a synonym for civic society. In Croatia, there are currently active 50 000 organizations but the research on citizens’ perception and involving in their activities are still relatively rare. The author of this paper examines attitudes of students from Faculty of Political Science in Zagreb on non-governmental organizations based on survey conducted among 100 students. The survey had three main goals: define if the students know of concept of non-governmental organizations, are they a member of any non-governmental organization and what do they think about their work and ways of its financing. It is noted that most of them have a negative attitude towards non-governmental organizations. Even though they understand the concept, they cannot list even one organization. The results had shown that none of the examinees is a member of non-governmental organization and that they are mostly not ready in that kind of participation. Students think that non-governmental organizations are a burden for government budget, and every tenth is suspicious about corruption in their finances. The survey also showed that one third of students have no political attitude. The author concludes that this research showed that political literacy of the students is very low and that is very important to work on encouraging their participation in issues of society they live in.
