Abstract
Diplomski rad problematizira pojavu samoubilačkog terorizma u suvremenom razdoblju i razmatra njegove glavne karakteristike i načine djelovanja.

Parallel abstract (English)
The thesis problematizes the occurance of suicide terrorism in contemporary times and discusses its main characteristics and means. With the goal of a more detailed comprehention of this phenomenon, the thesis also focuses on the occuring intervening variables that impact the occurance of this kind of terrorism. The fundamental intervening variable discussed in the thesis are foreign interventions, meaning the acts of western democratic states on specific territories in the world. This can be also seen as foreign political control on the territory. By analysing relevant literature it has been shown that the link between foreign interventions and the occurance of suicide terrorism is evident but also that it is not applicable in every specific situation, similar to every other dimension of this kind of terrorism. By analysing the cases of Iraq and Kosovo the results of the mentioned „cause and effect“ relation had shown that specific situations in the very country and the character of the intervention are the key to explaining the said relation. But, no matter the fact that the relation is not applicable to each and every situation, it still occurs. Regarding to that fact, it is necessary that even this dimension of suicide terrorism is included in the collective of knowledge on terrorism in the future.
