Abstract

Težište je ovoga rada na sustavnoj analizi koncepta kolektivne sigurnosti Ujedinjenih naroda, kao sustava pomoću kojeg ova organizacija nastoji ostvariti svoj primarni cilj održavanja mira i stabilnosti u svijetu. Tijekom godina rada Ujedinjenih naroda, pokazali su se mnogobrojni problemi funkcioniranja cjelokupne organizacije, a posebice Vijeća sigurnosti. Temeljne ideje i zamisli kolektivne sigurnosti, često nisu bile sprovedene u stvarnosti, zbog interesa država članica. U takvim se okolnostima i sam UN- morao prilagođavati međunarodnim događajima, pa su nastale i mirovne operacije, kao nova vrsta rješenja kolektivne sigurnosti.

Abstract (english)

The focus of this paper is on a systematic analysis of the United Nations collective security concept as a system by which this organization strives to achieve its primary goal of maintaining peace and stability in the world. During the operational years of the United Nations, numerous problems have arisen in the functioning of the entire organization and in particular the Security Council. Fundamental ideas and the concept of collective security were often not carried out in reality because of the interest of the member states. In such circumstances, UN itself has had to adapt to international events therefore peace operations have emerged as a new kind of a collective security solution.The focus of this paper is on a systematic analysis of the United Nations collective security concept as a system by which this organization strives to achieve its primary goal of maintaining peace and stability in the world.
