Abstract

Ovim diplomskim radom analiziran je geopolitički položaj Demokratske Narodne Republike Koreje kako bi se utvrdio njezin geostrateški položaj na geopolitičkoj karti svijeta. Koristeći se osnovnim postavkama geopolitičke analize utvrđeno je kako je Sjeverna Koreja i dalje jedna od najizoliranijih i najopasnijih država svijeta, ali u kojoj, nakon promjene vladajuće elite, postoje naznake za napredak. Jednako tako, pokazano je i kako je denuklearizacija sjevernog dijela poluotoka uvelike moguća te kako bi u doglednom vremenu moglo doći i do reunifikacije s Republikom Korejom. Međutim, s obzirom na nepredvidljivost Sjeverne Koreje na međunarodnoj sceni te na tranziciju koja se u državi mora dogoditi prije same reintegracije, navedeni se podaci ne mogu sa sigurnošću potvrditi.

Abstract (english)

This undergraduate thesis analyzed the geopolitical position of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to determine its geostrategic position on the geopolitical map of the world. Using the basics of the geopolitical analysis, it is determined that North Korea is still one of the most isolated and most dangerous countries in the world, but also, a country which is making great progress after the change of the ruling elite. Likewise, it has also been shown that denuclearization of the northern part of the peninsula is largely possible and that the reunification with the Republic of Korea could also be accomplished in the foreseeable future. However, given the unpredictability of North Korea's actions on the international scene and on the transition that must occur in the country before the reintegration, these assumptions can not be confirmed with certainty.
