Dvodomna zakonodavna tijela dio su institucionalnog uređenja u sedamdeset devet država. Bikameralizam predstavlja jednu od najsnažnijih institucionalnih protuteža izvršnoj vlasti. Zbog svoje specifičnosti zanimljivi su za politologe, stoga se postavlja pitanje zašto su rijetko predmetom istraživanja. Treći dio donosi osnovne značajke ostalih gornjih domova koji su predmet istraživanja. Abstract (english)

Bicameralism is part of the institutional arrangement in seventy-nine countries. It is considered one of the most important balances to the executive government. Because of its specifics, bicameralism is interesting for political scientists, so the question is why it is not a subject of research more often. The second part of the paper analyzes contemporary bicameralism and four ideal types of upper chambers in the United Kingdom, United States of America, France, and Poland. The third part analyzes basic features of other upper chambers that are part of this research.
