Abstract

Svrha je ovog rada otkriti postoji li utjecaj političkih ideja Kinga Jr., Baldwina i Malcolma X-a, kao trojice aktivista za građanska prava 60-ih godina 20. stoljeća, na ideje pokreta Black Lives Matter. Uzimajući u obzir heterogenu strukturu pokreta, kao predstavnik ideja odabrana je organizacija Black Lives Matter Inc. Zbog velike vremenske razlike između dvaju pokreta, koristila se kontekstualna analiza kako bi se objasnile okolnosti unutar kojih djeluju. Njihove političke ideje međusobno su uspoređene u četirima kategorijama: segregaciji, položaju Afroamerikanca, ulozi bijelih sugrađana i sredstvima postizanja ciljeva. Analiza je pokazala da je socioekonomska nejednakost zamijenila rasnu segregaciju kao ključni pojam, postajući tako nenamjerna posljedica čije su glavne žrtve marginalizirane zajednice. BLM Inc. koristi se radikalnom retorikom rušenja sustava, koju možemo pripisati Baldwinu i Malcolmu, a kao glavno sredstvo osiguravanja ciljeva koristi se Kingovom metodom nenasilnog pritiska putem društvenih mreža, pozivajući tako vladajuće na ostavke i promjene u slučaju njihove odgovornosti.

Abstract (english)

The purpose of this paper is to discover whether the political ideas of King Jr., Baldwin, and Malcolm X, as three civil rights activists in the 1960s, influenced the ideas of the Black Lives Matter movement. Taking into account the heterogeneous structure of the movement, the organization Black Lives Matter Inc. was chosen as a representative. Due to the large time difference between the two movements, contextual analysis was used to explain the circumstances within which they had operated. Their political ideas were compared in four categories: segregation, the position of African Americans, the role of white fellow citizens, and the means to achieve goals. The analysis showed that socioeconomic inequality has replaced racial segregation as a key concept, thus becoming an unintended consequence whose main victims are marginalized communities. BLM Inc. tends to use radical system-breaking rhetoric, which can be attributed to Baldwin and Malcolm, while exercising King's method of nonviolent pressure through social media as the main means of securing goals, thus calling on the ruling to resign and change in the event of their responsibility.
