Abstract

Pandemija COVID-19 utjecala je na gotovo sve aspekte društvene svakodnevice, pa tako i na navike korištenja medija. Primarni cilj ovog rada jest testirati teoriju jaza u znanju prikazom navika praćenja medija, izvora informacija te komunikacijskih alata ispitanika prema različitom stupnju obrazovanja za vrijeme trajanja četvrtog vala pandemije COVID-19. Autor je provođenjem kros-sekcijskog anketnog istraživanja nad 345 ispitanika, usporedbom njegovih rezultata s onima prethodno provedenih tematski srodnih istraživanja te formiranjem testa znanja želio saznati utječe li obrazovanje ispitanika na njihovu upotrebu medija i znanje o pandemiji. Analizom rezultata istraživanja i testa znanja, autor je došao do zaključka kako su ispitanici s većim stupnjem obrazovanja u prosjeku više pratili medije od onih manje obrazovanih, da postoji korelacija između stupnja obrazovanja i znanja ispitanika o pandemiji COVID-19 te da je upotreba medija, izvora informacija i komunikacijskih alata bila veća za vrijeme trajanja prvog vala pandemije u odnosu na četvrti val pandemije.

Abstract (english)

The COVID-19 pandemic affected almost all aspects of social life, including media use habits. The primary goal of this paper is to test the knowledge gap hypothesis by showing the habits of media use and use of information sources and communication tools of respondents according to different levels of education during the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. By conducting a cross-sectional survey of 345 respondents, comparing its results with those of previously conducted thematically related research and forming a knowledge test, the author wanted to know whether the education of respondents affects their media use and knowledge of the pandemic. Analyzing the results of the research and knowledge test, the author came to the conclusion that respondents with a higher level of education used the media more than those less educated, that there is a correlation between education and knowledge of the COVID-19 pandemic and that the use of media, information sources and communication tools was higher during the first wave of the pandemic compared to the fourth wave of the pandemic.
