Abstract | Rad se bavi fenomenom genocida, genocidnih politika, zločina protiv čovječnosti i etničkog čišćenja u kontekstu Domovinskog rata i Rata u Bosni i Hercegovini prilikom vojne agresije na te zemlje početkom devedesetih godina dvadesetog stoljeća. Rad prati ideje, retoriku te vojne i političke poteze srpske strane, odnosno režima Slobodana Miloševića tijekom oružanih sukoba u Hrvatskoj i Bosni i Hercegovini. Također, rad obrađuje ulogu medija i medijske propagande kao važnog instrumenta politika genocida u praksi. U događanjima u Hrvatskoj i Bosni i Hercegovini rad promatra kontinuiranu primjenu politika genocida, etničkog čišćenja, ratnih zločina i zločina protiv čovječnosti tijekom srpske agresije i okupacije dijelova tih zemalja. |
Abstract (english) | The paper deals with the phenomenon of genocide, genocidal policies, crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing in the context of the Croatian War of Independence and Bosnian War during the military aggression on those countries in the early nineties of the twentieth century. The paper tries to theoretically explain the concept of genocide through different approaches, definitions, and authors who dealt with the subject, to show what genocide is in practice and how the application of policies of genocide looked throughout history, and then to notice and observe these phenomena during war events and aggression on Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. With the disintegration of Yugoslavia, national states are affirmed, national movements strengthened, tensions and hatred between peoples grew, which leads to ethnic conflicts and wars. The paper follows the ideas, rhetoric, and military and political moves of the Serbian side, that is, the regime of Slobodan Milošević during the armed conflicts in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, the paper deals with the role of the media and media propaganda as an important instrument of genocide policies in practice. In the events in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the paper observes the continuous application of policies of genocide, ethnic cleansing, war crimes and crimes against humanity during the Serbian aggression and occupation of parts of those countries. The conclusion will bring an answer to the question of whether and to what extent genocide took place, that is, whether genocidal policies were applied during the Serbian aggression. The paper will try to show that Slobodan Milošević's regime implemented this kind of policy through a wide range of political and military institutions, structures and agencies, and that the media machinery helped him in inciting inter-ethnic hatred, chauvinism, and eventually war and crimes. Republika Srpska and Republika Srpska Krajina are political creations created after military aggression and the application of policies of genocide and ethnic cleansing. Republika Srpska, although it was created as a result of genocide and the application of genocidal policies, is recognized by the international community as a separate political entity that occupies almost half of Bosnia and Herzegovina. |
