Abstract

Mediji pospješuju proces konstruiranja slike pojedinaca, a ovim diplomskim radom željelo se ispitati kako to čine u slučaju pripadnika višeg društvenog sloja. Analiza sadržaja koja je provedena na izdanjima Globusa i Glorije koja su objavljena od 2015. do 2022. pokazuje kako izabrani magazini više pišu o umjetnicima, kulturnjacima, estradi i sportašima nego o „klasičnom“ višem društvenom sloju koji čine političari, direktori, menadžeri i vlasnici tvrtki. Ipak, s obzirom na razlike između političkog i lifestyle magazina, viši sloj prevladava u onom političkom. Osim toga, nije zanemariv ni nalaz ovog istraživanja da se o višem sloju na sličan način piše i u Gloriji što pokazuje da se općeniti stil pisanja koji tamo prevladava kada govore o „poznatima i slavnima“ nije javio u pisanju vezanim za viši društveni sloj. Iako se dio prve umjetničko-estradne kategorije zbog svog bogatstva može smatrati višim društvenim slojem, ipak im za to nedostaje prije svega društvene moći. Ono što mediji u oba slučaja dominantno naglašavaju je kriterij po kojem je osoba poznata u javnosti, a ne pripadnost višem društvenom sloju koja se odnosi na imovinu moć i status.

Abstract (english)

The media accelerates the process of constructing the image of individuals, and this graduate thesis wanted to examine how they do this in the case of members of a higher social class. Content analysis that is carried out on the editions of Globus and Gloria (published from 2015 to 2022) shows that the selected magazines write more about artists, cultural figures, entertainers and sportsmen than about the "classic" upper social stratum consisting of politicians, directors, managers and company owners. However, considering the differences between political and lifestyle magazine, the upper class prevails in the political one. In addition, the finding of this research that the upper class is written about in a similar way in Gloria is also not negligible, which shows that the general style of writing that prevails when talking about famous did not occur in writing related to the upper social class. Although a part of the first artistic-variety category can be considered a higher social class due to their wealth, they still lack the social power. The media dominantly emphasizes the criterion by which a person is known in the public and not belonging to a classical higher social class, which refers to property, power and status.
