Abstract

Društvene mreže postale su dio svakodnevnog života bez kojega je danas teško zamisliti moderno društvo. Danas se preko njih najlakše dolazi do informacija, a njihova interaktivnost omogućava korisnicima dijeljenje sadržaja, komentiranje i praćenje onoga što se događa. Korisnici društvenih mreža u najvećoj su mjeri mladi ljudi zbog konstantnog suživota s tehnologijom, a sadržaj koji mladi prate najčešće je zabavne tematike. Upravo zato zanimljivo je obratiti pozornost u kolikoj mjeri mladi prate politiku na društvenim mrežama i koliki utjecaj imaju na njihovu percepciju. S time se otvara mogućnost da mladi lakše dolaze do informacija o političkim aktualnostima i da mogu biti u stalnom toku onoga što se događa na hrvatskoj političkoj sceni. Ipak, valja u obzir uzeti činjenicu da mladi izbjegavaju takvu vrstu sadržaja kao i činjenicu da politici pristupaju prilično pasivno i apolitično.
Politička pismenost trebala bi biti sastavni dio školskih obrazovnih sustava što u Hrvatskoj nije slučaj. Stoga i ne čudi da je interes mladih kao i njihovo znanje o politici na minimalnoj razini. Ovo istraživanje omogućuje uvid u percepciju mladih o politici u Hrvatskoj i od kolike važnosti društvene mreže utječu na njihovo oblikovanje stavova i mišljenja. Također, ističe kako se zanimanje mladih za politiku u Hrvatskoj počelo buditi, no još uvijek nedovoljno. Rezultati pokazuju kako mladi svakodnevno koriste društvene mreže kao i činjenicu da najviše političkog sadržaja prate upravo posredstvom društvenih mreža.

Abstract (english)

Social media have become a part of everyday life and without them it is difficult to imagine modern society today. In today’s world, they are easiest way to get information and their interactivity allows users to share content, comments and follow what is happening in other lives. The users of social media are mostly young people due to their constant coexistence with technology, and the content that young people follow is mostly entertainment. That is why it is interesting to pay attention to the extent to which young follow politics on social media and how much influence it has on their perception. This opens up the possibility that young people can more easily get information about current political happenings and that they can be in constant flow of what is happening on the Croatian political scene. However, it is necessary to take into consideration the fact that young people avoid this type of content, as well as the fact, that they approach politics rather passively and apolitically.
Political literacy should be an integral part of school education systems which is not the case in Croatia. Therefore, it is not surprising that the interest of young people, as well as their knowledge of politics, is at bare minimum. This research provides an insight into young people’s perception of politics in Croatia and the importance of social media in shaping their attitudes and opinions. It also points out that the interest of young people in politics in Croatia has started to awaken but it is still not enough. The results show that young people use social media every day, as well as the fact that they follow the most political content through social media.
