Abstract

Temeljni cilj ovog diplomskog rada bio je istražiti jesu li i u kojoj mjeri novinarke izostavljene iz tvrdih („udarnih“) vijesti u središnjim informativnim emisijama HTV-a, RTL-a i Nove TV u razdoblju od 1.12.2015. do 31.5.2016. Metodom kvantitativne analize sadržaja na uzorku od 1,743 priloga emitiranih u 138 središnjih informativnih emisija slučajnog stratificiranog uzorka nastojalo se utvrditi izvještavaju li muškarci više o tvrdim vijestima, a žene o mekim vijestima to jest lakšim temama.
Istraživanje pokazuje kako novinarke više izvještavaju o tvrdim vijestima nego muškarci; autorice su 50,75% takvih analiziranih jedinica, dok su muškarci njih 47,07%. Iznimka je RTL televizija gdje muškarci dominiraju u tvrdim vijestima. Ipak, muškarci su kao autori tvrdih vijesti vidljiviji: ispred kamera u javljanju uživo na HTV-u i RTL-u pojavljuju se češće od svojih kolegica. Usprkos sve većoj jednakosti u kreiranju tema i dalje postoje neka područja izvještavanja koja su rezervirana samo za žene. Dobiveni rezultati pokazali su kako na sve tri promatrane televizije novinarke dominiraju u temama o zdravstvu i zdravlju te temama o djeci i mladima. Novinari se i dalje drže onim tema koja se tradicionalno smatraju „muškima“ poput crne kronike i prirodnih katastrofa, terorizma i ratnih konflikta koji se ne odnose na RH te financija i gospodarstva. U prošlosti su novinarke prevladavale u mekim vijestima odnosno lakšim temama, a rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da se to nije promijenilo do današnjeg dana.
Veću zastupljenost žena u tvrdim vijestima možemo objasniti feminizacijom novinarske profesije. S obzirom na sve manji broj novinara u redakcijama, novinarke su zauzele udio u izvještavanju u tvrdim vijestima koji je prije pripadao muškarcima. Rodna uravnoteženost u izvještavanju i brisanje granica između ženskog i muškog područja – posljedica je manjka novinara, a ne napretka prema postizanju stvarne jednakosti prema ravnopravnosti spolova.

Abstract (english)

The primary purpose of this study was to find out are and in what measure are female journalists left out of hard news in the national primetime television newscasts on HTV, Nova TV and RTL in the period from 01.12.2015 until 31.05.2016. Using the method of quantitative content analysis based on 1,743 news TV story in 138 primetime newscasts the goal was to determine do the men report more hard („breaking“) news and women more soft news.
The research shows that women report more hard news than men; female journalists are authors of 50,75% analyzed units, while male journalists are authors of 47,07%. The exception is the RTL television where men dominate in hard news. However, male journalists as authors of hard news are more visible: in front of the camera in the live broadcast on RTL and HTV they appear more than their female co-workers. In spite of greater equality in creating topics there are still some subjects of reporting reserved only for women. The results showed that on all three analyzed televisions female journalists dominate in subjects of health, children and youth. The male journalists are still over-present in the subjects traditionally regarded as “male” like crime and natural disaster, terrorism and war conflicts out of Croatia, finances and economy. In the past women prevailed in soft news, and the results of the research show us that it hasn’t changed.
The domination of women in hard news we can explain by feminization of journalism as profession. Considering there are fewer men than women in the editorial staff, women have taken over a share of hard news that had belonged to men. The gender balance in reporting and the deletion of borders between the female and male subjects is the consequence of the lack of journalist, not of progress in achieving real equality between genders.
